is this a harbinger of spring?

delicate blossoms pushing up through a wind-swept layer of snow?
oh, if only that were so
in fact it's a delicious carrot cake served at a baby shower last weekend

Seeing the first shot, I was thinking that snow was quite strange...:o)
Bon appétit!

Now had they been snowdrops, you might have fooled me . . .

Hmmmmmmmmm. It's (late) lunchtime here but no carrots.

No, harbinger of increased caloric intake!

?? I wonder if the two blossoms are harbingers of something else, like twins?!

Nah, when I hear the dripping of sap in the buckets, I'll believe that spring is coming. ;-)

I thought that it was way too early for flowers in your first photo, which your second photo showed to be a very clever tease.

Hello Brattcat,
Thank you for your good wishes my friend. Looking at the first photo, I had no idea it was a cake. Whoever made it is a very talented person indeed.
Bon appétit.

Tricky, tricky. I figured you had something up your sleeve (or behind your lens!) or your white balance was way out of whack, 'cause snow does not look like that...

Carrot cake is yummy!

A harbinger of spring I hope, but it won't last long. It looks too delicious!

I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I love carrot cake. The little sprigs are deceptive. T. S. Elliott wrote that April is the cruelest month, pushing up daisies out of the snow. Shoots from carrot cake in January are much more comfortable.
