We spent the Christmas holidays in Patagonia, near the southern tip of Chile. We saw and hiked amidst herds of guanaco, a member of the llama family. They are magnificent animals.
Their tall necks are well adapted to keep a lookout for puma, and they at times will stand like a sentry along a ridge line so that they can see in all directions.
I had never noticed before how much llamas and sheeps look alike, except from the size of the neck and legs!!Sure, from there above, it has a better view on sheep's hearts! :)

llamas seem so elegant and a bit arrogant, don't they? This one looks positively regal in posture.
Well, I've got to say that llama is head and shoulders above the rest of the critters...no wonder he knows so much.
Childhood dream, heh! From your photos and commentary, I'd guess you found your slipper and your prince!

He matches the group rather well and they seem to have accepted his presence.
Oh, llama. I've never seen one 'live.' This one is rather noble-looking.
I think the sheep have enlisted a bodyguard.

He looks totally different ;-)
He is perhaps the guard ...

The llama really pops up! I think it's the first time I see one among sheep.
Perfect wording! Aren't llamas extraordinary creatures?
Paraphrasing Philip K. Dick: Do Sheep Dream of Woolly Androids?
Funny bunch of friends!
There's mischief a foot, I fear. Llama is the lookout?
Cute they are. I have a photo of a Llama on the run somewhere. It ran away from the circus.
Looks like he's guarding the flock. Great shot!
:) love it! the image and the captions!
I think I have not seen before...

Llamas hold themselves so beautifully, don't they? That wonderful reach of neck and that look.
Love your series of snow photos, Brattcat.
