such a tiny detail

one sparkling ball, the size of a grapefruit, turns an ordinary house
into a place of wonder.

I would not say that a house which has such a window is an ordinary house..But I agree: it's magic!

Often in life it is the details that make the difference... sparkles, I like sparkles.

And I love that you see those beautiful details, brattcat. The window and the sparkly ball - so perfectly placed - dazzle!

Seeing details is an important part of life. Photographing them is just plain fun!!

Yes, as SC says... it's in the slightest details.

Since I posted my first comments, I've been trying to think of an essay that I've read and taught about seeing. Eureka! My brain freeze is over! In Annie Dillard's book, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, I used to teach sudents about the importance of seeing by using an essay from the book. Not at home so I cannot check the tile but the phrase I recall for so many years involves "what you see is what you get." Are you familiar with it?

This is a subtle, classic touch.

Beautifully captured and perfectly centered in it's unusual frame. Happy New Year Brattcat.

Yes. But I'll bet there are many details in your house that have the same effect.

I, too, have been entranced by a variety of Christmas balls this year. Even took a couple of photos.

Great minds...

Nicely seen, felt and shown, brattcat.

I hope 2012 is tops for you.

Hmm. It reminds me of the "eye" of HAL in 2001 and feels a bit chilling. Maybe if the owner invited me in and offered a glass of champagne I'd feel better about it.

Upon first glance I thought this was a rose stained glass window I was looking at. Magic is wherever you find it . . . and you find it all around you in Brattleboro.
