One of my fondest memories-- listening to some radio program on Saturday morning. They played the song at the beginning and end. Ah, memories.
"If you go out in the woods today...

Teddy Bear's Picnic
If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for teddy bears,
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
They love to play and shout.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.

If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

CHORUS

Every teddy bear, that's been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of wonderful things to eat
And wonderful games to play

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

Thanks, Birdman and BC . . . that tune will play in my head all day. I like the way Dave VanRonk sang it.

So Perfect for a sunny summer day.
I was going to post the song but many beat me to it. I am so glad everyone remembers. MB

These kids are lucky to be entertained in such a participatory way.

Winner of the coveted gratuitous cuteness award! (Except for the iron-jawed matron in the background of the top pic.) Little girls and teddy bears, an unbeatable combination.

How very funny and fun! You have some cool events for kids up there in the cold country! :-)

Re your comment on Cedar Key: Sawgrass looks just what it's name suggests - spines of tall grass that are very sharp...found most in swampy areas like the Everglades. Gotta be careful 'cause it can cut you up!

I think when I was a wee girl, Teddy Bear's Picnic was on the radio on Sat. mornings. Is anyone old enough to verify that pour moi??

Never mind. I see B2 is as old as I and we have that wonderful memory in common. Thanks B2!

Lovely, a good time for them to enjoy the picnic and some very nice photo ops. Nothing beats taking pictures of happy children...
