A few times. But I do have a slight fear of that sort of thing. Looks safe here.

First I need to find a way to stand up! :)
I'm always concerned about these ponds, I think it's dangerous!
Anyway that father knows what is safe and what is not, I hope so! :)

It's been years, and I recall the fun! Always a little bumpy but challenging. The family looks like they are anticipating the adventure.

Yes, when I was in Canada... but it was a total disaster... Once I even "played" hockey: I was dressed up like a ninja, but my Canadian friends looked like they were born with skates on their feet, so after a few minutes on the ice, I went back to the locker room!

I've skated on my parents' lake a few times - it's quite small. Otherwise, we do skate often on our outdoor neighborhood rink!

Cute picture.
Yes and also fell through the ice, luckily it was very shallow water. That was many, many years ago.

I can't say that I have, but I would like to try it some day. It looks like fun!

I grew up in Alaska and each winter when the lake was frozen my dad would go out and drill a test hole - if it was deep enough all the kids waiting on the shore would rush to skate - we skated until dark, and then skated longer because it is lighter on the ice than on the shore. We skated until the ice began to melt in the spring and when it was covered with an inch of melted water then we had to stop skating.

What terrific light here, Brattcat! The photo fairly glows. And a great family scene.

And yes, I used to skate on frozen ponds all the time in the years I lived in Minnesota! We played hockey on frozen ponds. I wouldn't want to do it any more, though.

Hey, wait a minute! This isn't Florida!

Just from the thumbnail, I first thought you were bringing us back to summer at the beach, sort of a January dream. Not so. No. never skated on a frozen lake. I can't ice skate. Or ski, either, despite years of lessons when we took our kids out west every winter. Just a natural born klutz.

No frozen ponds here, and probably I won't be able to do it...

It doesn't get cold enough in Oklahoma to skate on a pond. Here we use inline roller skates and skate year around

That brings back memories:
Yes, I have!! I was born in Holland and spent my youth skating on canals and partially frozen lakes during the many severe winters then! Thanks for reminding!
