(the highs for the remainder of this week are predicted to remain under 10 degrees f...out on the meadows with nothing breaking the wind it will feel far, far colder. stay safe mr. fisherman.)
My brother lives on a lake in Minnesota. He says that people have little huts to sit in while ice fishing, with electricity and other comforts. He says that he thinks it is an excuse for guys to go out and drink beer and watch football without their wives around.
He does not ice fish. He and his wife do participate in a curling league. Another strange ice sport.
And here I was bundling up in coats and scarves and gloves last week when we had temps in the 30's and 40's. I certainly couldn't do what this man is doing.
One cat prowls around small town Vermont.

Very interesting way to fish, but I imagine it's freezing cold!

Brrrrr! HAs he a red hat for in case he gets lost?..
Love his bright cap against the frozen tundra . . . That is one sport I will probably never try. . .
Never could understand the appeal of ice fishing. This lone fisherman should have an ice fishing house which dot Minnesota lakes.

Just like in Haninge. Nice red "mössa".
Here it will be -15 degrees F tonight with windchills double that. Still, there were ice fishing folks on the lake!
Yes, a very hardy soul... I don't think I'd want fish that bad...
I don't understand this. No personal experience but I have heard Garrison Kielor talk about it for years. How is it that this is pleasurable?
I sure don't get the appeal. Brattleboro's markets probably have an abundance of fresh, reasonably priced fish. That is my style . . .
It sure does look cold. One has to admire his intrepidness, a bright red cap!
Are the worms he uses frozen too? -9F here today... w/ out wind chill. Brrrrrrrrrrr
