how i spent my new year weekend - 4

a new morning dawned, a new year began.
the day was as besotted by fog as the night before had been.
finally, in mid-afternoon, the sun woke from its new year's stupor

I like when the sun parts the fog, and there is that mix of smoke and brilliant light. Your image illustrates this wonderfully.

Say what you will against the fog, I just love the stuff. It pulls a veil over a lot of ugliness and imbues everything with a gentle charm

A new year always tires out the sun...I mean it's been shining out there for millions of years!

I love mist and fog. Some people say that's where my mind resides.

Re your question on Ocala DP: Yes!

Have a wonderful weekend.

This is a pretty shot with the fog giving in to the heat of the sun.

In Arizona one would first assume that a scene like this was due to dust, not fog.

Fog was only a veil, put to hide the beauty of the day until you were ready to welcome it..

I love a good foggy day and the way it reduces the world to your immediate surroundings. The colors in this shot are gorgeous. Happy New Year!

Nature, I suppose, needs to rest and gear up for the new year too! Lovely view, and I personally enjoy fog. Comes from living on Lake Michigan as a kid.

I thought it was smoke at first . . . I like the way the fog is being lured up to the white clouds . . .

My New Year's Day could not have been more different, but only in the landscape and in the weather.
