The Story of Holly and Ivy, Kate. It's a charming, old-fashioned tale. One that is so nice to share during the holiday season.
There was a rumor going around that you were reading rumer close by a blue-lit angel.
I had not heard of Rumer Godden but she was prolific!
But why am I going around singing "The earth comes alive to the sound of music?"
This sounds like a sober evening.

Holly looks enchanting. Thanks for reminding me of that heartwarming story with Barbara Cooney's delightful illustrations.
Do you have the Cooney version? Hah! Just read Slim's comment. It is a heart-warming story, eventually. Another favourite of mine is Dylan Thomas' 'A Child's Christmas in Wales'. I love how he has drawn the aunts and uncles.
