defying gravity,

suspended in a tangle of boughs,
weighted only by his chainsaw.

Jeepers! I have all my work cut out for me with a chainsaw on solid ground. I can't imagine being suspended here.

Very daring work, we have plenty of tree specialists in Charleston to trim back the heavy annual growth, especially on the old oaks. Yikes!

I've watched some of these men and marvel at their agility in the cold weather.

I have never anyone suspended up in a tree like this with a chainsaw. This looks hazardous. I woder if there is another way to trim these trees.

We've had several tree-acrobats attending to our trees, and it is hard to watch - hard, but compelling. Nice 'catch' here, brattcat.

It looks so daring and dangerous and I am glad there are people up to the task. Nice pj image.

These guys are nuts! And fearless. We had them climbing all over our big oak trees at the old house several times a year. One guy wore no shoes or shirt. I heard later he fell out of a tree somewhere else and broke his back. But after a few months he went out trimming again!

I constantly marvel at how you can take the most ordinary photograph and add your words and turn it into magic.

A guy from my neighborhood climbed my trees like this to remove some damaged limbs after the surprise October snowstorm. It was only when he was finishing up that I asked him how old he was. Can you imagine my shock that a 74-year old man was climbing trees with a chain saw.

Oh my, I know they are experienced in their work, but you would have to hold your breath until they had finished and had their feet on the ground again!!

Amazing. I'm with Birdman...a chainsaw on the ground is plenty for me.
