one morning we toured the seattle public library.

from a mezzanine, we hovered over a reading room.

the children's room beamed in the basement,

where fearless max ruled over the wild things.

we rode the yellow escalator.

and lost ourselves in the red hallway
which i knew i had to see
because of kim's (seattle daily photo) images of this mysterious passage.

what a library!

It's quite different than any library I've seen. I love the wild colors. I think. And the kid's basement...should attract the little ones. The red hallway shot is especially good!

Been to Seattle 5 times, never been near it yet, woe to me.

Wow! That's one large package of red. It looks like plastic, or cherry red candy! If I went there, I'd try not to lick the walls.

They don't build libraries like they used to! Gorgeous place.

You said it all, "What a library." It looks like a joyful place, and I'd love to visit it, too. I hope that the residents realize that they have a treasure there.

Library's are totally cool, perhaps man's best idea. I like your eye for color composition in these images.

Almost like being there! I remember reading about the Seattle Library and how it was designed so that the open spaces could be easily changed to function differently as needed. Interesting library architecture. Wonderful post . . . thank you.
