brattcat's brattcat
wondering when i'm coming home

skywatch friday: strange sky

my daughter used to hold her breath when she passed a cemetery,
fearful she would breathe in a wandering spirit

do you have any superstitions?

this old house thursday: north avenue stucco

this single family home is an unusual style for new england,
but lovely, don't you think?

meet nancy braus, bookstore owner

who walked, with a small group, from brattleboro to montpelier,
126 miles, 12 days,

to protest the extension of an operating license
for a 38 year old problem-prone nuclear power plant.

best image 2009: obsession, posted july 11

trying to capture its enchantment.

this old house thursday: where my daughters were born

we no longer live here,
but this house survived, among many things, the hurricane of '38 (just barely),
some live-in goats and a few chickens (the family before ours),
dogs and cats (ours), a river rat (ugh...no pet, that),
and the births of our two daughters.

simply succulent

i don't know how in january
tomatoes from maine can
smell and taste and look this good
but i am profoundly grateful for this red reality

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

said the car to the snowplow:

we really must stop meeting this way

i don't know...does this sort of remind you of that final scene from
The Bridges of Madison County?

January theme day: change

what do they say about the breeze created by a butterfly in flight?
