time to mow the grass

Our little lawn had turned into a minor jungle during our absence.

Great photo but what about all those jungle inhabitants? :-)

Cool lawn mower. Let the grass on it, don't clean it...

That's funny! I cut the grass this morning - but used a power mower and then a riding mower. Still too darn much work.

If it doesn't rain soon in the Tampa Bay area of Florida there will be a glut of barely-used powers mowers we can ship to Brattleboro. Love the push mower!

Yes. We've just started too...

Welcome back. While you had wonderful coverage to take care of your blog while you were away, next time you should see if someone will take care of cutting your grass while you are gone so that you are not met with such chores upon your return!

I remember push mowers like that when I was a kid. And I remember the challenge if the grass was still wet but had to be cut, and the clumps of wet grass would clog up the blades. Later, as we moved to larger houses and had a lawn with a sloping hill, we got a power mower, then a self-propelled power mower.

And as a father, I remember the injustice of my own son who had allergies and could not cut the grass. I complained for years, "What good is it to have teenage boys in the house if they won't cut the grass?"

Thank you for the entertaining comments and sharp observations that you leave on my site and on others. I really enjoy them.

An image that cuts right through, Brattcat. As others have pointed out, this is doing it the hard-way although I appreciate the "small-footprint" concerns behind it.

Nice looking garden: is that some sort of Japanese maple that is already the colour of Autumn?

Good for you. I've been out in the garden trying to keep ahead of the weeds. I have no lawn, all naturalized flowers and raised beds, but my neighbor was mowing his lawn while I was out working. Hey, we have the same Japanese maple! Hope you sat down and had a nice outdoor dinner in the yard. . .looks like it was a very nice day. I can SMELL the cut grass from your photo.
