circles of ice

these perfect circles float down the whetstone brook
and gather like magic plates
waiting to feed the hungry connecticut river.

Very interesting shapes. What is causing the circles?

Interesting! Now I'm wondering how the ice formed such perfect circles.

Very cool! I wonder how they are formed so perfectly. They look like a bakery creation!

These are fascinating, indeed magic plates! (I do not think that they are frozen lily pads, but that is funny!)

I am at a complete loss to understand this, brattcat. I hope you will educate us about what causes them.

How intriguing - have never seen this sort of 'circling' before. . . great catch, brattcat.

They are fascinating. We see them in the Mississippi and particularly at its confluence with the Missouri when it is cold enough. Someone once explained to me how they form but it didn't stick in my brain.

I'm wondering about the shape too. Whatever causes it, though, it's amazing.

These are very fascinating. Never have seen the like. Maybe there are little fishies swimming in circles under the water trying to keep warm?
