For some reason I immediately thought of Siddhartha on the river's edge at the end of the Hesse novel. Your river is quite a bit colder, I'm sure, but it reminds us that we can never step into the same river twice.

Like a baby bird slowly going out from its egg, the new water wants to see the world..
I love to hear the pop and crack. Beautiful photo.
Really! This is awfully early. It will probably re-freeze again.
My mother lived on Lake Winnepausaukee and the people up there took bets on when the ice would crack. I think it was usually in APRIL!

Like an echo between the sky and the river!
It's probably saying, "Finally some sunshine... it's about time!" I love this shot with the strong reflective backlight.
Gorgeous shot! Spring is coming!
Eerie sounds, beautiful sight.
I love the way the clouds and ice sheets mirror each other.
The sky and clouds are beautiful and provide a delightful "cap" for the photo.
