i'm still way under the weather, just popping up long enough to post.

not only have gremlins taken root in my computer,

now they've taken root in me.

passing women in wooly hats and puffy coats

mother nature's late winter libation

we flee from winter

but we've yet to find the path to spring.

there was an old birdie who lived in a boot

with doormats of snow and laces of jute.

contemplating snow storms in march,

gremlins in computers,

the kindness of strangers,

the frailty of life.

the tech guy says, "huh...i've never seen a computer do that before."

so it's still not fixed.

but fixed enough to come limping onto your dashboards this morning.

gremlins have taken over entirely

don't know when i'll be back.

these firemen on elliot street use a quiet moment

to feather the melting snow

here's a spicy bit of green

for st. patrick's day

if we had a window into each individual life,

the tragedy of what has happened in japan, and its consequent ripple effect,

would be, if possible, even more devastating

to all those living in, or with connections to this beautiful country and its precious people,

please know we are holding you in our spirits and in our hearts.

unfortunately the gremlin continues to toy with us,

popping its head up from time to time just when we think all is well again.

this morning i woke to a frosted fantasy.

ah vermont.

elsewhere in the state people are digging out from 30 inches of snow.

down here in brattleboro we had a deluge of rain and then this icing on the cake.

our last glorious day in seattle

we spent

with kim of seattle daily photo

kim gave us the "ten cent tour"

which was nothing short of

priceless.

thank you so much, kim, for your gracious hospitality.

spending time with you was every bit as delicious as i'd hoped.

at the seattle science center

we walked amid the butterflies.

when the time came to leave them

we spun around three times to make certain none had hitched a ride

(welcome new followers happy-hapsi, artedigit, and alexa.

i'm so glad you alighted on my blog.)

one morning we toured the seattle public library.

from a mezzanine, we hovered over a reading room.

the children's room beamed in the basement,

where fearless max ruled over the wild things.

we rode the yellow escalator.

and lost ourselves in the red hallway

which i knew i had to see

because of kim's (seattle daily photo) images of this mysterious passage.

what a library!

on the bus to tacoma dome

we passed safeco field.

eighty minutes later, in olympia, we ate baked potato soup and chocolate cake, sipped coffee and cocoa,

walked along the sound, ate a fabulous meal at the oyster house,

and met henry the bookstore cat.

what a perfect day.
