can anyone say

why farm buildings have such graceful lines and
wear such pleasing colors?

You certainly have a knack of capturing roof lines and making them so appealing to the viewer.

Bonjour chérie!
I don't know, but this farm is beautiful! You know that I grow up on a farm in Brazil and my mother still live there.Generally the farms there are different from the farms that I've seen in Europe for instance.I think it's about the weather.
For instance those " big round hay bales" and the way the farmer keep it during the winter to feed animals, it's not normal in Brazil, at least in South Brazil where I lived.
I remember to see my grandmother preparing "alfafa" with salt to feed cows. Lovely memories!Grandma used to give adorable names to the cows. The cows were so nice to share with us fresh milk everyday! :)

Yes, this is pleasing to the eye. The simple lines seem reminiscent of a simpler time, perhaps that's what's attractive.

Barns and farms always take me back to my childhood and bring back many good memories of times on Grandma's farm in northern Minnesota.

Thanks for the memories.

And yes, that is a real gator!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I agree with Birdman. . .

I've wondered that myself, more than once.

Farms in Oklahoma tend to be less picturesque and more utilitarian. Or maybe the ones that are picturesque are falling down.

So we would have something lovely to photograph :)
Love the cupola.

How about: in the dismal winters of Northern Europe, especially in Scandinavia, using bright colours was/is a way to lighten up the long winter nights?

A pleasing view. And good clean lines of the buildings too. I like the shingles? on the wall of the front one.
