Very poetic Sunday! Hopefully that peony will be open very soon and laughing at being tickled!

Nice capture here... before the explosion of color. Always had fun with this name as a kid... 'pee on a knee', I'd tell Mom.

When I was growing up in Illinois, we used to have several peony bushes in our yard. They are such cheerful flowers and I don't get to see them in Arizona.

Wonderful shot of this symbiotic relationship.

So right, peonies do laugh. They are like overblown fat ladies in a Gilbert and Sullivan opera!

On our trip to the gardens of villas in Lake Como Julie got some macro shots of flowers, one of which has an ant on the opened petal. I had never thought of the ant tickling the flower, though. Thank you for expanding my thoughts with your clever imagination.

You often tickle my funny bone and I laugh out loud!

Peony honey?

If a guy had a gal named Peony, he could sing "Would you be my honey, Peony?"

Might make the Top Ten.

My solidarity to the poor peony: I do not like ants! My apartment is on the sixth floor and my terrace is often invaded by ants...

Beautiful words with a beautiful photo. We had peonies when growing up in Illinois also. My mother has always called them "pineys". :)

My beloved dog, Autumn Eve, loved to ride in the wheelbarrow. So did most of my dogs.

Patty said, in response to my question? "Have I ever had you in the wheelbarrow?" She said, 'I don't think so.'

You've got the perfect explanation for the flower opening!!

I want to see this peony once the ants have had their picnic and bud blooms. Nice macro work, Brattcat.

Ants do love the nectar and I love the idea of them tickling the Peony open. Clever MB

I always enjoy your personification! Like Leia, it puts a smile on my face. How I love peonies-- ours have already come and gone, much too briefly. Fortuitously, I get to see them again through you!
