Wednesday doorway: laundry and prayer flags

for years this balcony has welcomed small gatherings of international students.
even in winter they bundle up and sit out and talk late into the night.
sometimes the talk is serious but mostly these students laugh together.
o, how they laugh.

in all living things there is such a will to survive.
out of the struggle sometimes such beauty is born.

move over nessie

this isn't exactly 'champ'--vermont's answer to the loch ness monster.
'champ' has been sighted in lake champlain, about three hours northwest of brattleboro.
this little serpent hangs out in the confluence between the west and connecticut rivers.

At Dutton's Farm Stand

a vast field of mums.
when i passed they were being watered by dueling swords of spray.

these blossoms followed the fence like a child's bright crayon outline.

ferry across the susquehanna river

Here you are, Jacob.
This is the sister to the ferry we took.
I snapped this as we were pulling up to the dock.

the paddlewheeler took about twenty minutes
to travel one mile
across the widest stretch of the river.

she had to hire a locksmith to get in (my husband's bad) and tend to the brattcat's brattcat.
how's that for heroic?
thank you all for leaving great comments for her.

i've returned from maryland to find autumn

this old house Thursday: tapirgal's homestead

A couple of months ago I posted what I thought was Tapirgal's homestead.
Local historian, Charles Marchant, told me he thought I was one house off.
This, he believes, is the actual old Joy family residence.
Sorry to have mislead you, Tapirgal.

here in Brattleboro I found this little red dude dressed in Ralph Lauren.
