Tapirgal's search

When Tapirgal realized her ancestors once lived in my neck of the woods,
she spoke about trying to find the old homestead.
I accepted the challenge and went prowling up the West River Valley to Townshend.
Above is the site where I believe Tapirgal's family once endured the long Vermont winters.

This garage/shed sits, I believe, where once there was a farmhouse
belonging to W. Joy (Tapirgal's ancestor)
It's possible this house might have been the one in Tapirgal's family
but using her directions and a map of our own
our best guess is that her family worked and played
in a house that once stood at the site of that red garage on the left.

I'll be out of town for a couple of days.
See you all soon.

How nice of you to do this for the wonderful Tapirgal. And even better, to actually find the site of her ancestors! Amazing.

Great photos, too.

Have a good time, wherever thou goest! You shall be missed!

wow, Brattcat, this is really special! I didn't see it until today after you said it would take further research. Thanks so much for finding it and for being persistent! I'm thinking it could have been the big white house. I know they had enough room for the parents, 3 children, and student boarders, at least one or two. I'm going to dig out the old letters, but I know there was very little in the way of descriptions of the property. However, something I may have forgotten from when I found them in the 1980s may mean more now that I can look at these photos. You are a champion! I'm smiling!!! Have a nice vacation!
