a day in the life of brattleboro...the retreat farm

our local camera club circled april 23rd and

local photographers began at 12:01 a.m.

and continued until 11:59 p.m.

documenting one day in the life of our town.

buds swelling

each morning, at breakfast, i note the swelling of the buds on the maple tree just outside the window.

sugaring season is over, spring has truly arrived.

to all those in the mid-west, hang in there.

take me for a ride in your side car

 if the temperatures

ever warm up.

vroom vroom

back in brattleboro

where despite the occasional patch of snow,

spring has flung her arms wide open to embrace us.

bronx zoo-new born lemur

we were on our way out of the park when a volunteer invited us in for a glimpse at the zoo's newest baby. 

thank you all for coming to the zoo with me. wasn't it fun?

we arrive just at rhino tea time.

even those who are just hangin' have a certain elegance

one reason why i look so glum is

i have stump where you've got thumb.

bronx zoo--a graceful gathering of giraffes

 their posture is precise

their lashes awfully nice.

bronx zoo-habitat cohabitation

if such different species can peacefully share habitat,

why can't the same species play nicely up and down and all around this vast world?

Bronx Zoo--The Bears

 this youngster preferred to keep her face dry,

backing gingerly into the pool

 once in she used the warm rocks as a pillow.

later, after she'd climbed out, she pushed her sister into the pool

and chuckled at her own prank.

oh, the bears, the bears were "unbearably" cute.

come with me to the bronx zoo on a sweet spring day.

let's wander up the walks, under the tunnels, over the bridges, 

and see what we might see.

hopping away for a few days
