we cross so many bridges throughout our lives

carried in the arms of others
or under our own steam.
you know the expression
'we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.'?
today, i came to it.
and it is just another bridge...

I'm sure you'll cross it with elegance and success..
Do you remember Jimmy Clift's song "I've got many rivers to cross"..?

When I see a bridge like this I think back to a moment in my childhood when a boy about 14 at the time climbed up and walked across the top of a bridge like that on a dare from a friend who offered him 25 cents for the stunt, which fortunately he completed.

Just another bridge, but at least one with some character :^)

Looks like this bridge has weathered a lot of storms, and it is beautifully rugged in its old age.

Some bridges are fun to cross, others are not; I'm not sure how I feel about this one!

I have to agree with Malyss' comment! I think you will cross with grace and style.

But what was on the other side?

This one looks a little rusty. I agree and I like your attitude Brattcat a bridge is just a bridge and one way or another it has to be crossed! My very best wishes for a successful crossing.

Not sure if I would cross the bridge, but I will take some picture of it.

My grandmother used to say, "Yard by yard, life is hard. Inch by inch, it's a cinch."

Cross the bridge one step at a time... go for it. I agree with Malyss.

Lovely post, Brattcat! I like the rusty look of that bridge.

Even rusty bridges can still be crossed...

Oh yes, just another bridge, and then you forget about it.

That's usually the way it works...and sometimes we never do get to "that bridge." Which usually means caution is often the best approach.

Lovely photo and as always, I enjoy much your poetic, insightful commentary!

So well put. I believe this is now my favorite railroad bridge.

I like your commentary today. We cross many bridges, some of which we can turn around and re-cross, and many of which, once crossed, are behind us forever.

Oh my friend. We'll cross that bridge with you I hope. Much love,

Love the photo and of course the words. It's often easier to cross the bridge and see what's on the other side, than not to do so and then spend your life wondering what you missed.

This certainly is a bridge that's not going to be burned real soon.

You do have a bridge to cross this year, but that is not until August. I somehow feel you are not refering to the bridge in the photograph.
