I presume that would be the work of squirrels. in Arizona, people who live near the mountains or desert areas, even in urban areas of Phoenix/Scottsdale, risk having javalinas (a type of wild boar) eat their pumpkins.

Looks like that season has really ended. How nice to be able to supply a snack or two to some of our little friends.

As Dave said, I've seen the same effect produced by javalinas. I think it's great that they are getting their recommended daily dosage.

Yep, little nibblers.
One year I put the pumpkins in the compost and the next year I had a goodly crop of perfect sized pumpkins and it has never happened again. 14 pumpkins all the same size. MB

I hope those are little critters gnawing and not bigger ones. Imagine their delight to find that big orange surprise.

Those happy little nibblers have created a smile-shaped hole.

The rains here have finally ceased, the waters have started to recede, and there is actually blue sky out my window. Now I have a smile, too!

Long may they nibble.

It would be great having a remote controlled camera close to the pumpkin. :-)

Funny! What kind of critters would do that?
