No whitewash please! I love the textures of bare wood. :)

I hope you and your family had a blessed and beautiful Easter Sunday!

This wood looks very thirsty for some stain or wood preservative, regardless of the color. I can't imagine how many gallons it would take, as the wood would just soak up every brush stroke.

We used to have lodge pole pine logs for a roof for shade over a ramada for an outdoor ping pong table, and in the brutal Arizona sun the wood would require gallons of preservative several times a year. I can't look at a photo like yours without the urge to take out a brush.

Well, if you're going to be fenced in, this is a nice-looking arrangement...I'd skip the paint, too, though. Looks pretty good now.

The fence is watching you...I agree - no whitewash.

Ditto on keeping the wood natural - such wonderful texture and a peek thru the openings - the title is great, one of my favorite "scenes" in Tom Sawyer, along with the one where he pretends to be a girl and puts his knees together instead of apart to catch the falling thimble(?).

I envy your eye to see the details and present them to us in the best form. Great image!

Bare wood is great, any transparent coating available?

I love the little windows to the other side! We've gone rustic and weathered with our fences as well... hard to say now if it was a conscious decision or if we just didn't get around to it! Either way, I quite like it now, and I like yours too. And I love the Tom Sawyer reference!

Very interesting---love the unfinished wood. Looks like Wisteria vine on the other side. MB
