Very artsy photo of a static, stone subject. Have you seen ROb and Mandy's photo of a lion today on their Barcelona Daily Photo site.
Julie and I went to Tanazania last month and one of our challenges was to photograph a male lion with his face and mane on display. We took several photos of female lions' faces, but until the last day all of the male lions who we saw were lying down sleeping facing the other way, or chewing on a willdebeast in the grasses, and we were not going to walk in for a closer look or better angle, of course.
On our last game drive on the last day, we finally got photos of a male lion, looking right at us. I am sure Julie will post those photos in the future on our www.VivalaVoyage.com travel photo site.
In addition to the male lion looking at us, he was in the company of a female lion. I am sure we will not post any photos of that.

Sometimes bloggers give one another awards. You get the Ow! What a Pun! award. I think I know where this is. It's got a powerful look.
I am sure that lion isn't lyin' as he stares ahead. Wonderful photo with great detail.
