two days ago, when i left the house for a photo walk,

a manager of our food co-op was alive and well and going about his morning.
ten minutes later, as i stood across the street from the co-op, balancing my camera for this shot,
that same manager slumped over his desk, killed by a co-worker...
in the time it took me to walk down main street....

It proves that life can change in the matter of seconds. Seems as though I have been surrounded by death these last few days. This story is a tragedy of mammoth proportions and belies your photo of peace and tranquility.

I'm so sorry to learn this Brattcat. Tragedies such as this make no sense to me. I hope you are doing ok.

Oh my gosh Brattcat, how can things like this happen! Your picture makes the story all the more poignant! I hope you are not in shock, take care of yourself.

Oh Brattcat, what a tragic and senseless thing to happen. I agree with JM, that story is a sharp contrast to the peaceful feeling you get from your photo.

From now on, you'll never look at this bridge without remembering what happened..This old everlasting stone bridge will be the symbol of how frail and ephemeral life can be..

Why, oh why do people do such things? Violence has never yet solved anything and has only ever brought more misery. I am so sorry you were exposed to this.

Our lives so fragile. We do so hang in the balance. So sorry!

What we need are more guns on the street! Just ask the NRA!

What a shame. It really matters not where you live. Violence thrives!

Glad to hear, though, that Brattleboro was able to fend off the seduction of Walmart!

How terribly sad, to say the least.

Yes, I plan on Hinsdale unless it rains. Are you planning on going? If for some reason plans change, I'll leave you a comment early Saturday morning.

I saw the incident covered on the news and wondered if/how it affected you. Across the street? Horrible. I hope you are OK and dealing with the shock.

Holy cow! What's the back story? Tragedy can strike anywhere, even a bucolic rural paradise.

OMG! How can this be? These are the times when there are no valid explanations. So, so sorry.

Unbelievable. We live in one crazy world - sometimes - often - it's a joy and other times, totally unfathomable. So sorry.

My thoughts are with you, Brattcat. We never know what life will present to us on a photo walk . . . what a tragedy for your community to get through.
