a song for the magpie

magpie asked for the eighth image from the eighth file and the story behind it...
arkansas, april, 2004
we came upon this one-of-a-kind motel after seeing a faded billboard promising
river-side rooms...never has a little motel so lived up to and exceeded its promise.
there were many great photos from that day
on a camera less than two weeks old...my very first digital.
this is one of the least successful images but it's the eighth.
magpie, i'd like to opt out of the second half of this challenge but
thank you for tagging me and sending me back to this wonderful memory,
particularly because this is my 500th post at CDP.
thank you all!

Happy 500! Thanks for the memory shot this morning. When we traveled cross country, these gems popped up around almost every corner. For that matter, they do each day for me, and I've traveled these footprints a lot. Amazing what life holds, if you just get off the merry-go-round and ponder!

Your legacy will be what? A record of the past is quite a legacy don't you think? Imagine what computing will be like 100 years from now.

500 is quite a good number and the 8th of the 8th. I think it is a wonderful photo and there must be more stories about the motel in the water. MB

Newton is one of about 10 kids from a nearby farm. They were out in the pasture with the rest of the herd.

500 posts?! Congratulations.

This is quite a photo you've posted...because of the way the light makes a sort of wake, at first I thought you were on a boat moving away!

Hey, at my advanced age, I can't see so well either!

Congratulations on 500! We have been blessed 500 times over. If this was one of the less good images, I'd love to see the others! This one seems dreamy and magical.

If this photo is not one of the best, we must see the others! The monochrome is beautiful with the water and fog.
Congratulations on 500 posts! I am at 1/5 of your output.
