when sandy came to share dinner with us she brought

a package too beautiful to open.
but i did open it to find...

peppermint-candycane fudge
(oh, baby).

sandy also brought a 'tick kit' because the little buggers frequently
hitch a ride home with me from the woods.
inside the little jar: ordinary dish soap.
instructions: saturate a cotton ball with said soap,
hold it on top of the burrowing tick for 15 seconds,
remove cotton ball...the tick should come away with it.

now can you think of two more thoughtful hospitality gifts?

This is a sure fire way not to get ticked-off at anyone.

I had to adopt a contortionist stance to read the words on the top of the jar. The two disparate gifts inhabit different ways to treat appetite: yours and the tick's!

I'd gladly try the peppermint candycane fudge and the tick kit would be useful for the dog. Sandy is quite thoughtful.

What a thoughtful visitor. I didn't know that tick trick. I'll have to remember that one.

Flowers and fudge, i can understand a guest bringing as gift. I have never heard of a guest bringing a tick kit.

Lovely thoughtful gifts. The candy looks delicious. Fortunately we don't have ticks here in Melbourne.

Mmmmm! peppermint candy cane fudge, nice pressy Brattcat! Does your friend make it herself, my sister-in- law and her husband make and sell gourmet fudge and I don't think that is on their selection.

Lois Anne would like that fudge! She'd probably eat it all and then I'd get ticked off. Nah, just kidding.

You have a nice friend.

And you are very funny..."that branch of the family tree"! :-)

That's the sort of friend to have. What a beautiful gift - both. I'm wondering what candycane fudge can be. Sugar cane made into Candy, chopped up and put in fudge?

I think you can achieve the same result with vinegar - for the ticks. The other method is to put a lighted cigarette on the end - then the head gets released. I often had to do that with dogs even tho I didn't smoke...Can absolutely see that this gift is far better than either of those suggestions.
