winter carnival

Winter Carnival coincides with February school vacation.
Most of the activities (parades, movies, sleigh rides, talent shows, sports competitions, etc.) are designed with children in mind.

the blues

We are so grateful to the many homeowners who paint their houses in various rich shades.

on the road...not

Does anyone remember traveling in an Airstream trailer?
This one appears permanently grounded beside the Whetstone Brook.
Its front window reflects the world in such a dream-like way.

New snow, and just in time.
The old snow was getting awfully grimy.
I'll be away for a few days.
See you next week.

No Problem

Rudyard Kipling, when he lived in Vermont, played golf with a green ball so he could see it on top of the snow.
I wonder about baseball...certainly sliding into home plate would be easier under these conditions.

The gray monument beneath the flag was erected by the grieving family and friends of a local boy who lost his life in Iraq.

Two windows

This house often gets me musing on the acquisitiveness of our species, and how cold that attic must be, and who and/or what might live in there.

Bell Tower

This McKim, Mead, and White school building sits above the town of Brattleboro. Completed in 1892, the building is still in use.

Brattcat's back

Something nasty infected my computer so I've been out of commission. This photograph, taken through old, rippled green glass, is precisely how the world has looked to me this week.
