This picture is out of time, so peacefull, romantic.. It could be the beginning of a story to tell..

Some pictures are better in black and white. Beautiful!

Lovely monochrome. Malhyss is right; it has a special romantic and peaceful quality.

Your choice of b/w works here. It reminds me of a scene near Steep Falls.

I'd like to see the color version also, but I do like the b&w...reminds me of my parent's photos (taken a long time ago) of northern Minnesota!

And you're right about walking vs. riding. I'm often frustrated when I see something I want to photograph but there's no place to stop the car...

Re your comment on Florida Fotos about the "port-a-potty": I think it really is portable and just stuck in the ground here...it's located at our vet's offices. Of course, I could be wrong...that's happened once or twice in my life! ;-)

How tempted were you to show this in color? It is timeless in b/w and could have been plucked from an old family album with black pages and little corner triangles holding each photo in place, the location carefully scripted in white ink...

I am glad to live in a town where I can quite easily walk almost everywhere... Dodging cars and scooters obviously!

We will soon be past the walking weather here in the desert. I'll miss it until the cool down comes in late September.

Better than a Constable painting.

Yes! Perfect example. Just beautiful. I love a good walk around. It lifts the spirits.

Or the cycler or the rider... Picture this 100 years ago, what has changed?

You may have already known this. Julie and I just learned during our photo shoot of Yosemite about a week ago that if you take photos using the monochrome setting in the camera, you get more gradations of light than if you take the photo in color and then convert it on the computer.

We will henceforth take photos in monochrome when we think that the scene will be a good subject for a black and white image.

Wonderful scene and wonderful shot, brattcat. I don't know that this is one I would have thought about converting to B+W, but it does work well.

You are so right about seeing more slowly. In my family, I do 99 percent of the driving. On those rare occasions when I am passenger, I marvel at what I see. Better yet, I LOVE hiking and biking, in large part because there is so much to see at slower speeds. (The exercise doesn't hurt, either.)

That is just stunning Brattcat, looks like it could be in another era, love the monochrome.

Amazing place, almost a story itself and the composition of your image and the use of B&W make it a beauty! Congrats
