I had to look them up. Never heard of them or their books. And I thought I read every children's book written, over and over.

I have bookcases full of children's books, some of which I used when I was teaching high school students to illustrate several different literary concepts and many more which I have saved from my childen's library and those that I have added for my grandkids. Surprisingly, none for these authors. Guess I'll have to remedy that soon. My surprise echos that of Jack's.

This looks like the kind of place that one would not know to visit unless being guided by a knowledgable local resident or guide.

How good of Jilly to lead you there; how good to honor their steps.

I don't know the persons mentioned but from the other comments they must have been writers of children's books!

Nice steps, though. I climb them anytime!

It was a pleasure, dear brattcat. And such a coincidence we had a connection via Lenore and Erik as well as our blogging.

Seeing those steps make one realise that every bottle of wine, everything for the house, to eat, etc has to be lugged up those stairs and before that, lugged up into the old village as no cars are allowed, of course. No wonder the locals in these medieval villages live forever... no heart doctors for them.

I bet there were lots of historic paths in this village.

All old stairs have their stories. Glad you shared this one.

Ah, a bit of a Vermont connection?
Do we have a "Bratcat & Ms. Jilly: Neighbors in Menton" coming up?

How lovely that you were able to visit this place, Brattcat. Did you feel their presence? I hope it brought peace to you there.

Yes, Jilly told me in our phone conversation just how taken you were to be able to visit this apartment. Am I confused, but did you do a post on Lenore's passing? I have tried to find it to no avail.
