we've lost quite a few slate tiles from our roof this winter

it's likely they originally came from this quarry

Beautiful tones in that slate.

Tones, textures composition. They're all working here.

I think I have heard of marble or granite coming from Vermont. You show us a slate quarry. I would assume that quarrying is seasonal work, as this would be brutal to do outside in the winter.

It's such an art to take slate tiles out of this stone..Only a few people are able to do it today.

When I read the first half of your post I thought the photo was of all the tiles you lost on your roof!!
This has been an unusually harsh winter for us. Biggest problem has been the ice dams resulting in water leaking in the house. I rake the roof, but it doesn't seem to matter. The 2 to 4 inches of Friday ended up 10 -12 and when I got up this morning it was snowing again. We got 3 inches more. I'm sick of it. Too much work and I'm too old for this.

Winter must have been tough on you.
Fortunately you won't have to query where there's a quarry to replace them.

Interesting shot.

Hope all is well up thar in snow country!

Very interesting shot. I like slate. I made my Mother a small slate patio once. I am glad I personally didn't have to qyarry it. LOL MB

Slate in any form is beautiful. Years ago I saw a coffee table with a slate top and regret to this day that I didn't buy it.
