An artisan work, that even Mr. BC would admire, I bet.

What is surprising me is that those beautyfully sculpted columns are made of wood!We have not such things there, all is made of stone.

Great detail. Wonder if that artisan/builder worked on any other houses in your area. . .?

This is a house? Maybe you will show us the rest of it so we can see it's total splendor.

They don't build many of these in Florida anymore. We looked at a house in The Villages one time that had some nice columns out in front...not ornately carved like these, but still...

Then I went to feel them and it turned out they were made of plywood and the columns were hollow!

Yikes!

This is beautiful! It's too bad they don't make them like this anymore. I love those details.

Lovely indeed! The homeowner in me, though, sighs at the thought of the upkeep of this house, which surely must be old.

Beautiful. I like the focus on the details, and the interaction of curves, straight lines and ornament.

If it's anything I love it's a good capital! :)

What lovely workmanship! Days gone by...romantic.

This is a great photograph. You let us see enough to put it in context but are close enough to let us see the detail. They are clearly carved out of wood as they are not quite identical -- and they need to be repainted.

I wish they did though.

I love your angle.

And they don't build columns like that anymore. Forgot all my education; what kind are they?

We do not pay attention to the details anymore. Neither in building decor, nor in relations and time being. Looks like life just runs through the fingers. So quickly.

Surely you have taken us to Italy. Or is there a wormhole between Rome and Vermont?

With this post you retract the post-contemporary condition.
Sadly true.

Main Streets can be pretty amzing. It looks like this one is, and you captured the design beautifully.
