For me, it depends upon how we consider the word "held". A mirror reflects an object, and therefore that is not reality. Similarly, our eyes reflect an object and that is not reality, as each pair of eyes perceives the object differently and each brain "holds" it differently.
It's beautiful Brattcat.I think it is also provocative, because your words make us think about the way we see ourselves, and the way others can see us. Very nice! Léia :)
That's quite a question you pose for us, Brattcat. A healthy awareness of both illusion and reality gives you the best of both worlds and you certainly spotted and captured them both in this image.
I've been catching up on BDP today and the surf dude is a "wow" image. I like the way he's almost breaking through the frame of the image . . . such tension and excitement you've caught.
Will you be going to Vancouver to capture some of the icy action or are you waiting for the summer games in London???
Love it! Esp. the contrast btw the jumble of the front view vs. the clean back view. It looks like a vintage photo in an old wood frame. And the question is, what has a round mirror like that? Hmmm...
What a great question. I posted a similar shot recently. We are so used to seeing things thru the lens of a camera and that seems real to us. It's real to me but I suppose it is an illusion/reflection but not so different from a photo.
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blogs' birthday, Brattcat.

Therefore, everything is only known subjectively.
How lovely! at first sight, I thought it was a little naïve painting!
the only true thing is the beauty of it!
Okay, Brattcat...now you're trying to confuse me!
But as I remember some ancient philosopher saying (Plato?): "I look into a mirror, see myself, therefore I am!"
What, that isn't right?
Okay, how about this: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, how does Brattcat confuse us all?"
But, the really big question, as you know is: "What is reality"?
In this case, though, it doesn't matter. Hah! Because you've given us a beautifully, creative post to puzzle about!
Have a great weekend.
Batik? Is that related to Brattcat?
Yes, I think. It's a dyed thingy, right.
it is not easy to awnser.
That depends . . . . Fun shot in the mirror!
It all an illusion. MB
This image and its framing intrigue me. How were you able to get such a perfectly clear mirror image?!
What a fantastic image this is! Bravo!
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, every mirror and lens distorts reality somewhat.
'Things seen in a rear-view mirror...'
Love that Florida morning shot.
What a neat idea for a photo. Seeing as how hind-sight is 20/20, images in a rearview mirror are more clear; therefore, they might be more realistic.
You know the "mirror mirror on the wall" line...
I love the way the mirror is framed by the branches. It looks like a miniature painting.

Very nice!
Léia :)
Well... it's not an easy question :)
Inside the mirror objects are complete and recognizable.
Outside... more sharp, but incomplete and 'abstract'.

Fantastic idea!
Within or without, some would say that all is an Illusion.
This looks like a picture frame. Very creative.
Great philosophical question. It's all reality, or nothing is; and I am more willing to believe the former.
Interesting question..........
It looks good whichever it is. Nice shot.
I see that your mirror is much cleaner than mine ...
Words to ponder and an intriguing image!

Striking photo! Well spotted.
It depends on what side of the mirror you are standing.
I hope my answer is not a bad reflection on myself.
Sunny :)

wow, very creative photo with a profound question to make us think. great post!
My compliments
its a very creative photo !!!!!
Oh, how very nice and clever!
Creative photo......
Both of them is real?
For us they are both unreal because we are watching pixel on a screen...
This is so clever!
or maybe the things that cannot be seen in the mirror or the eye are the most important :)
May be...
...a very delicate Cameo (if my dictionary does not betray me).
The pupil reflection and this is a unique composition, well done!
Reflection?
